Yayoi Kusama - Dotty (English edition)
10,00 €
The Japanese painter Yayoi Kusama died in 2026 at the age of 97. She became famous for the polka-dot patterns with which she adorned canvases, sculptures, people, animals, and even Louis Vuitton handbags. Museums featuring her futuristic mirror rooms often see such high demand that visitors are limited to just 30 seconds inside. In the 1960s, she ran body-painting studios in New York where participants could paint naked models; however, she barred her fellow Japanese citizens from entry due to the poor behavior of Japanese businessmen. In his 40th comic biography, writer and illustrator Willi Blöss visualizes the life of the artist, who voluntarily checked herself into a psychiatric hospital at the age of 48 and—from there—shared her art-based therapy with the world.
